Floral Room with a View – The Flower Shack!

I decided to ‘take the plunge’ of running my own business 8 years ago. I realised that this was something that I wanted to do and that there was a gap in the market in the Callington area for a florist. Floristry for me started as a hobby.  I did a Basic Floristry Techniques course in 1993. I used to enter lots of village Autumn show competitions, coming first on several occasions. This reaffirmed my love of flowers.

In 2006 I decided to build on my knowledge. I attended night school. I achieved City and Guilds Level 2 in Floristry and City and Guilds Level 2 in Floristry –Wedding Work. In 2009 it was time for a change in my career. After twelve years working in an office and after discussions with my husband, I found a shop the very next day! It was time to swap admin for creativity working with fresh flowers. Despite the current financial climate there is a need for a florist in Callington, and I have no regrets.

Nothing is impossible:-

I have enjoyed my first seven years at my shop. I look forward to many more successful trading years, filling a niche for the people of Callington, Gunnislake and the surrounding area. My skill set covers flowers for ALL occasions. I can do your complete wedding package where I am more than happy to deliver and set up at your chosen venue. Bespoke sympathy tributes are my speciality where I have created designs such as a mini, a pasty, a sunset, a grenadier guard, a paratrooper’s beret, a sack of potatoes to commemorate the life of a local potato farmer, a drill for an avid D.I.Y enthusiast and so on. The list is endless and it seems nothing is impossible.

New Beginnings:-

In February 2017, I closed the door on the shop for the last time. I am continuing to run my business, but from the ‘Flower Shack’ in my garden. Same top quality flowers from B.J.Richards, same top quality service, same me! I’m still delivering flowers in and around Callington, Gunnislake and the surrounding villages. Same day delivery still applies as well but it is advisable to phone if you require this service.
