Thank you for visiting our website and reading our latest news.

Jane’s Floral Design’s has just finished staging a ‘Winter Art Exhibition’ 2013 which ran until Christmas Eve. With over one hundred exhibits from over thirty artists, there was definitely something for everybody and selling fourteen exhibits – the numbers speak for themselves! The next exhibition will be held  in the Spring 2014 – more details to follow in due course. It is open to all artists and viewing of the exhibition is free.

In December, Jane’s Floral Designs ran ‘Floristry for Fun’ courses, Christmas Table Arrangement workshops and Christmas Wreath workshops which all proved to be very successful and enjoyable.  At Jane’s Floral Designs, we are currently thinking about designs for the next six week block in the Spring.

The Victorian Market went smoothly with lots of festive fun and even no rain….well, not until 7.30 when it was time to pack up! The market was buzzing, feedback from stallholders and the community alike was that everybody had a great time. This event seems to be taking off and something I will look forward to organizing again this year!

NEW YEAR  2014

So, what’s new at Jane’s Floral Designs? I am very excited to announce that my web shop went ‘live’ on Saturday 18th January 2014 with products being updated / added all the time. If you can’t find what you are looking for then please use the link to email me or phone me and I will do my best to meet your requirements.

At Jane’s Floral Designs it really is ‘Flowers for all Occasion’, from thank you bouquets to retirement gifts, celebratory bouquets for new baby arrivals to silk arrangements, complete wedding packages to a simple button hole, sympathy bouquets to bespoke and traditional funeral tributes. In times of grief, it is difficult to remember that you still have a choice but for a more personal service for that fitting tribute it is always best to speak to your Independent Florist.

Valentine’s Day has been and gone already and I am pleased to say that romance is definitely alive and kicking in Callington, with a lot of my ‘annual’ visitors returning! The reliable ‘freedom’ rose proved to be very popular again, although I did encourage customers to have a mixed bouquet for better value for money.

SPRING  2014

Mother’s Day was a huge success with over seventy floral gifts leaving Jane’s Floral Designs. Seventy orders meant seventy St.Mellion invitations were sent out to all the Mums where they could visit and have a free pass to the leisure centre. I’m looking forward to this being reciprocated and Brides-to-be coming to me from St.Mellion for a wedding consultation. The ‘Callington Cupcake’ was very popular and being as it has no calories went down a treat! The new range of trugs in red, white, pink and lilac were flying off the shelves as well. Not forgetting the traditional bouquet, I knew it was going to be a busy time. FREE parking in the Pannier Market meant collecting your flower order couldn’t be easier. We were out and about on Sunday doing deliveries in Callington and the surrounding areas until 1pm when we were all done and able to visit my Mum with a well deserved cream tea!

Jane’s Floral Designs turns five this month, May 22nd 2014! To celebrate, I am holding another Art Exhibition of work by local artists – ‘In the Community – By the Community – For the Community’. This will run until the middle of July to still be on for Callington Festival Week. With two pieces sold in two days this proves to be another successful event. All visitors are welcome to view the Artwork and it is well worth five minutes of anybody’s time – but you’ll need longer! There will be Birthday cake on Thursday 22nd if anybody would like to pop by and say hi. Here’s to many more years trading. Thank you all for your continued support.

Lastly, if you have enjoyed looking at my website, please pop across to Facebook and possibly even ‘like’ my page! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Janes-Floral-Designs/215019915199077?ref=hl Thankyou…..in anticipation!

Jane’s Floral Designs had an extremely successful day on the first Wednesday of October, Honey Fair Day, despite there being ‘nothing’ going on in the Pannier Market! For every customer that walked through my door I automatically entered visitors into a ‘free’ draw to win a luxury hand-tied bouquet courtesy of moi. Having said that, I had over 100 customers in my shop on that day to see the launch of the ‘Suara Gift Emporium’ and the second ‘Trio of Art Exhibition’. Both of these draws proved to be extremely successful. The raffle prize was drawn independently by Debbi from the ‘Suara Harmony Centre’ and just happened to pull out my sister’s ticket – well Julie was a visitor as well! I also held a raffle with over seven prizes and the proceeds of £103 was donated to Kelliwik Festival to try and ensure it’s survival – although a drop in their ocean, every little helps!

November and December saw the launch of an open Art Exhibition – ‘A Winter Wonderland’ which is already proving to be successful  as four paintings flew off the wall in the first week – an encouraging start. I am going to be changing the business name to Jane’s Floral Designs, Art Gallery and Gifts what with the range of gifts in the Suara Gift Emporium and the Cornsih Gallery – all of this and more can be found at Jane’s Floral Designs.

I have been very busy making plans for Callington’s fourth Victorian Market which is Saturday 6th December, 4pm – 7.30pm and there is free parking in the main car park for ALL visitors coming into Callington on this day. There really is something for everybody on this day with a Craft Fair in the Town Hall, 10am – 2pm,  Chicks Santa Sprint at 3.30pm, Christmas Light Switch on at 5pm, a free Family Disco 5.30  -7.30 followed by  local band Yorkie, playing 8.30 until midnight whilst our local hero George dances the night away to again raise money to go towards Kelliwik Festival. Callington will not disappoint.

The Victorian Market had well over 30 stalls of local Arts, Crafts and Produce made by the Community, in the Community, for the Community. Callington Town Band played a selection of Christmas Carols, Callington Community College provided circus workshops then a Circus Performance complete with jugglers and unicyclists. A Street Organ sent out Christmas tunes and the finale was by Callington Community Gospel Choir. Again, there was something for everybody including FREE face painting.

On the business front, I have sent floral tributes to Co-op Funeral Directors and Barry Collings Independent Funeral Directors both Callington Businesses. I took several Christmas Wreaths orders and Luxury Christmas Wreaths. The trugs are proving to be popular as are the ‘Callington Cupcakes’ and living vase arrangements.

What’s new at Jane’s Floral Designs, Art Gallery & Gifts? I think that says it all. I am in the process of changing the business name to reflect exactly what I do as the business has evolved over the past six years. The ‘Art Gallery’ is really taking off and the venue is already booked up to August. February saw the exhibition ‘Art Attack’ playing host to local Artists Ian Shalliker, Brian Aldridge and photographer Niki Curtis. All three were successful at this venue.
March featured ‘A Quartet of Colour’ with Artwork on display by Derek Scofield, Lin Deacon, Rebecca Elliott and Anthea Lay who at the time was appearing in the BBC1 programme ‘The Big Painting Challenge’. Although Anthea didn’t make it to the end of the programme, she did do extremely well. There was a preview evening where Derek carried out some Encaustic Wax demonstrations which amazed us all.
April’s Art Exhibition is called ‘Art for Artsake’ and features three Artists from in and around the Tamar Valley. They are Jenny Braund, Jo March and Diana May. Both Jo and Diana have had sales from here this month and lots of viewings for all three Artists. When the music stops it will be all change for May featuring Ken Shaw, Jackie Lowman and Fran Larcombe. It’s always a lovely surprise when the paintings come in as to what the Artists produce. I’m continually amazed. The Preview evening for this will be Tuesday 5th May, 6pm – 8pm where light refreshments will be available All are welcome.
The focus of the business is of course FLOWERS and I continue to create arrangements for ALL occasions with FREE local delivery. I already have some Weddings booked in for the year ahead plus a Wedding Fayre to attend in Callington in the Autumn.
I have recently joined TAVATA and can’t wait to see my business in print in their fliers.

During this year I shared my shop with local ceramicist Brenda McGrogan of Country Cottage Ceramics. Visitors could come and paint bisque products with Brenda’s guidance, ranging from cups, mugs and plates to money boxes, animal ornaments and various other keepsakes. This was a very nice past-time and lots of lovely, vibrant items have been produced.

Thanks for reading.

Blooming Marvellous!
